Having lived in Carson City since 1978 with her husband Bob, Sensei
Phyllis Bateman teaches English and Humanities at the High School
level. As an educator, she holds a B.A, an M.A, and a Ph.D.
Sensei Bateman began studying martial arts in 1996 along with her
triplet children, Drew, Devon and Daphne (then, eleven years old),
who ultimately earned their brown belts in Shintoyoshin Ryu
Jujitsu.
